I have been married for 30 years.  My husband has been in Law Enforcement for 31  years from city, county to federal law enforcement.  We have two sons. My eldest son is 28 years old  and he is a dept. manager at a local HEB grocery store and has two beautiful sons which are 2 and 4 years old.  My youngest son is 19 years old and is going to college.

As for me, I was a nurse for over 20 years when I decided to returned to school.  I quit my nursing job because I was on call 7 days a week.  It made it impossible to return to school.  When I did decide to work, I took a job as a Teacher Assistant which was ideal and no on call hours.  As I worked  as a TA and attended school full time in San Antonio, I also worked as a nurse on the weekends.  I worked at Johnston High School and it was a great learning experience that turned my world into teaching.  After Graduating from Texas A&M Kingsville, I got certified In Special Education EC-12, Generalist EC-4, Supplemental EC-4 in Bilingual. I  have had multiple trainings for  Gifted and Talented, Handwriting without Tears, Balanced Literacy, 6+1 Traits of Writing, CGI- Cognitive Guided Instruction for Math, Struggling Reader, Dyslexia Training in Writing and Reading and ESL.

This will be my sixth year at  Bryker Woods.  I taught Special Ed for two years and this will be my fourth year in first grade.  It has been a wonderful experience working here.  I hope that my grandchildren will have the opportunity to attend this great campus.

My Hobbies  are I am always looking for new and exciting ways to make teaching interesting for the kids.  I find myself trying to learn more about technology each year and  integrating it into the learning process.  I also love to shop.

I feel that every child is capable of learning. Some children may not learn as quick as others but they are capable of learning. You just have to tap into each child's needs and be willing to work hard with the support of the child and parent alike.  It can be done together!
